Jack Parker is the volunteer assistant coach at New Mexico State University. Originally from Greenwood, Indiana; he started playing volleyball in 1990. His volleyball career started in the gym at the local YMCA. After three years of playing in leagues and open gyms a group of parents decided it was time to create a men’s team. Once the team was created they pushed to create a men’s team at his high school. The following year he was asked to help coach at Center Grove High School with the high school women’s team. |

Jack Parker is the volunteer assistant coach at New Mexico State University. Originally from Greenwood, Indiana; he started playing volleyball in 1990. His volleyball career started in the gym at the local YMCA. After three years of playing in leagues and open gyms a group of parents decided it was time to create a men’s team. Once the team was created they pushed to create a men’s team at his high school. The following year he was asked to help coach at Center Grove High School with the high school women’s team.
Upon graduation from high school he went in to the Navy and played on the Naval Amphibious Base select team in San Diego, California. During the off-season he played beach volleyball, playing in local tournaments at the Coronado, Mission, and Solano Beach areas. After 18 months of playing beach and grass tournaments he was asked me coach at SunWest VBC (Soon to be Epic VBC) and be a volunteer assistant at Mesa College.
n 1996 he returned to Indiana to finish his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology at IUPUI. While pursuing his undergraduate education he coached at Circle City Volleyball Club working with teams in the 14’s, 16’s, and 18’s age groups. Over the course of 12 years, he worked with beginner teams up to teams trying to qualify for nationals. During the Jack would travel the country and work volleyball camps at Division I volleyball programs spanning the country: Purdue, Ball State, Michigan State, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Stanford, Santa Barbara, and UCLA.
Starting in 2000 he volunteered time with the USA High Performance tryouts, and continued his volunteer work with the USA Women’s Sitting Volleyball team the year before they took a Bronze Medal at the Athens Olympic Games. Combing the knowledge of various college coaches, his coaching and playing experience, and High Performance expectations he have been able to develop a coaching style that emphasizes technique while improving game-time performance.
Currently he is working on his Master’s in Sport Psychology, coaching with New Mexico State University, and providing Sport Psychology services to various athletes locally and nationally. Jack lives with his wife (Molly), and two sons (Atticus & Leonidas) in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
